This wrap-around teacher's guide is designed to be used with the Making Connections Student Book, Grade 6 (sold-separately). Student pages are reduced with the correct answers overlaid; the margins around them contain the teacher's lesson notes and plans. The "before reading" section includes a skill focus with semi-scripted class introduction, a "background knowledge" section that encourages students to relate to the lesson, and a "text structure and purpose" section that explains the point of the lesson. The "During Reading" portion of the lesson includes comprehension questions, vocabulary notes, and cooperative learning group activities. The "after reading" section provides graphic organizer activity instructions and summary discussion points. ELL support is provided throughout. Multiple strategies for the readers is also provided.
